This pattern may be made in either the Natural "open" Style with the legs and tail of the hide attached (pictured on the front cover) or a more tailored Style shown in the line drawing on the back of the pattern. The length may be varied to suit preference, Tribal influence or the size of available hides and an option for a neck flap is also given.
The Indian War Shirt was worn either plain or decorated; honors and coups were often seen on the shirt. Paint, feathers, ermine tails, beadwork, quillwork, shells, bells, coins, fur and/or trade cloth are some of the items used to decorate the shirt.
