Each of these blades is composed of 3 laminations of steel; the center is razorblade hard and the outer two laminations are softer and protective of the edge bearing center. The center lamination registers a 59 on the Rockwell C Scale and therefore stays sharp for a long time. The center lamination extends through the entire blade so the edge won't wear thin with repeated sharpening.
