This tinder box was copied from a private collection of early tinder boxes. It is an early 1700 type as carried by frontiersman and soldiers. It is slightly domed side to side and front to back on top and bottom. The lid is held to the bottom by a hinge on the back and the lid is held shut by a spring on the bottom.
