In 1872, university trained Frank Mayer arrived in the Texas Panhandle and got himself outfitted to hunt buffalo. He bought an 11 pound, .40/90 3 1/4” Sharps Rifle with a 32” barrel from Col. Richard I. Dodge, and fitted it with a fulllength 20x German scope. When he was 100 years old, Mayer told his story to Charles B. Roth, who published this book in 1958, four years after Mayer died in Fairplay, Colorado at the age of 104. The reprint of his book is a soft cover with 96 pages.
