This historic .58 cal. percussion lock weapon gained its name as a result of its performance in the hands of Jefferson Davis’ Mississippi Regiment during the heroic stand at the Battle of Buena Vista. The Mississippi is also known as the “Yaeger” (misspelling of the German Jaeger).
