Samuel Colt's new revolving cylinder pistol was manufactured by the Patent Arms Manufacturing Company in Paterson, New Jersey, in the mid 1830s. The Paterson is a five-shot revolving cylinder pistol with a hidden trigger that drops out of the frame when the pistol is cocked. This revolver has often been referred to as the Texas Paterson.
